Blueair was founded in 1996 in Stockholm, Sweden by Bengt Rittri with a belief that clean air is a basic right. In 1997, Blueair launched its first flagship model, the Blueair 401. Its HEPASilent technology combines electrostatic and mechanical filtration to capture 99.97% of particles down to 0.1 microns.
Building Consumer Trust & Global Presence (2000s–2010s) Blueair expanded globally with durable, energy‑efficient purifiers recognized for quality and health benefits.
Strategic Shift & Smart Home Era (2016–2020s) In August 2016, Unilever acquired Blueair, accelerating innovation and connected‑home development.
Purpose, Design & Social Impact Blueair launched Clean Air for Children in 2016 and became a Certified B Corporation in 2023.
